Engineering (BTEC Level 3)

This course is designed for students who are interested in a career in engineering and want to progress to further study in the sector. Students will take a practical, applied engineering course as part of their Level 3 study programme, which gives them an introduction to the engineering sector. You will be able to combine this with other qualifications, such as an A Level in Mathematics or Physics, which would allow you to progress to apprenticeships or higher education to study engineering or other STEM-related programmes.

There are three mandatory units:

  • Engineering Principles
  • Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team
  • Engineering Product Design and Manufacture

Students must complete and achieve at Near Pass grade or above in all mandatory external units and achieve a Pass or above in all mandatory internal units. Students must also complete at least one optional unit.

Entry Requirements

  • GCSE grade 4 in Maths and English
  • The Extended Certificate is more suited to those students applying for an apprenticeship or an advanced apprenticeship.
