We were honoured to be invited to Westminster earlier this week for the Powered by People event with a small group of students to represent County Durham. Vice Principal, Catherine, took year 12 students with her to showcase everything UTC in County Durham. Jack, Oliver and Tom heard from businesses and politicians about the inward investment into the region and then had an opportunity to network with politicians and business owners locally and beyond. As part of the Powered by People campaign we have been involved in various events with our young people aimed at raising the profile and attracting inward investment to our home county.
Catherine said, “We love where we live and work and the businesses that surround us. They provide our young people with tailored experiences and support that help to shape their young lives and their future careers, our region really is powered by its people.
She Added, “As an educational setting, it inspires us every day to watch our young people build and carve out careers for themselves in traditional disciplines and in industries that until recently never existed. The future or our region’s young people and of the industry that surrounds us is bright, exciting and growing at a huge rate. We love being part of that.”
