Would you like to inspire the next generation of Engineers?

Are you currently working in an engineering industry looking for a new challenge? Why not join the UTC and pass on your engineering knowledge and skill to the next generation of up and coming engineers. We are looking for a Level 3 industry competent person who would like to train to become an engineering instructor/assessor in the education sector.

UTC South Durham opened in September 2016 and is the first UTC in the North East. With a focus on advanced manufacturing and engineering it is located at the heart of Aycliffe Business Park, County Durham.  We provide an excellent technical education for 14-19 year olds, encompassing real, relevant workplace experience in partnership with world-class companies and are graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

The successful candidate will plan, deliver and assess units for our Engineering Technician Programme (ETP). As part of the ETP team, you will be responsible for the delivery and assessment of mandatory units (H&S, Working in an Engineering Environment, Communicating Technical Information and Business Improvement) and specialist units within Mechanical Engineering – mainly Turning and Bench Fitting.

UTC South Durham are currently delivering the EAL Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence 601/7179/0) and the EAL Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge 601/9034/6). We call this pathway our ETP route. On completion of this course, our students will move on to a Level 3 apprenticeship in their chosen field within the engineering industry.

The Trainee ETP Instructor / Assessor will join a very experienced team of professionals who have come into education having worked across different disciplines in the engineering industry. UTC industry partners fully endorse this course and see it as a great way to have their future apprentices trained and ready for employment.

We are an equal opportunities employer and we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
