We require drivers to join our busy minibus team

University Technical College South Durham opened in September 2016 and is the first UTC in the North East. With a focus on advanced manufacturing and engineering, it is located on Aycliffe Business Park, County Durham. We provide an outstanding education for 14-19 year olds, encompassing real, relevant workplace experience in partnership with world-class companies.

You will be a member of a small support team led by the Business Manager.  As part of the support team you will focus on delivering the UTC’s minibus service to students who travel across 5 counties. The school mini buses seat up to 15 students, with the service ensuring that students are able to attend from locations which aren’t currently covered by our larger school bus routes (for example Teesdale and Hartlepool).

This will equate to a flexible 3-6 hours, ideally covering both the morning pick-ups and afternoon drop offs, Monday to Friday. Driving between approximately 6.00- 8.30am (Mon-Fri) and 4.00pm to 6.30pm (Mon/Tues/Thurs), 1.00pm – 3.30pm (Wed/Fri).  Prepared to consider drivers who would only be able to provide either the mornings or the afternoons, if this proves to be feasible based on other applicants’ availability to cover the alternative shifts.  There is also further need for trips and excursions during the day to support our business engagement activities.

You will have experience of providing minibus driving within a transport environment or be an experienced driver who meets the essential criteria as described in the person specification. You’ll build positive relationships with staff, students and partners. You can demonstrate a knowledge of the practical requirements required to provide an efficient transport service.

Our sponsors, Hitachi Rail Europe, Gestamp Tallent and the University of Sunderland, are committed to creating an outstanding school that will provide a talented young workforce for companies in the North of England. If you have the expertise and commitment to make a life-changing impact on our students then we’d like to hear from you.

We are an equal opportunities employer and we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
