At UTC South Durham we encourage all students to work with industry partners to solve a real life problem. Annually our Year 10 and 12 students are presented with a wide range of problems that our industry partners are currently facing. Students then self-select the problem that appeals to them the most and groups are formed to work together in creating a suitable solution for each problem. Over the course of 12 weeks students are guided by their mentor not just to develop a suitable solution but to also create a presentation in which they can deliver their project to our wider community.
Last Thursday was the presentation day for these projects and we were blown away by the detail groups had put into their projects. But more importantly, it was clear all students had been able to gain vital work place experience and develop skills to make them more employable.
We would like to thank all of our industry partners for their commitment to these projects and the amazing support they continue to give our students.
