With Newton Aycliffe’s 75th anniversary being celebrated this year, Sixth Form students were challenged with designing a piece of memorabilia to commemorate the occasion. The students, who took inspiration from some of the iconic features in the town as well as its history, designed a range of keyrings and badges.

Ken Robson, Newton Aycliffe Mayor then paid a special visit on Tuesday 16th May to see the student’s designs and pick a winner. It was Chloe Fieldsons ‘Aycliffe Angles’ keyring that Ken choose to win due to the designs uniqueness and representation of the Aycliffe’s past heroes.

Students will now work as a team, using our specialist engineering facilities to mass produce the keyring ahead of Ayclive in the summer as the keyring will be given to everyone attending the festival.
