A group of students alongside Vice-Principal Catherine Purvis-Mawson receive the Baker Award for Technical Education in 2019

The Baker Award for Technical Education

The Baker Award for Technical Education accredits young people who choose a technical educational route and encourages wider support from parents, partner business and stakeholders.

This qualification is unique to students at UTCs and recognises a combination of qualifications, work experience placements and the developments of a range of wider competencies. This qualification offers young people the opportunity to take their first steps into becoming registered technicians.

To gain this accreditation you must:

  • Gain good grades in technical subjects
  • Undertake work experience
  • Complete project based learning

All students at UTC aim to gain this qualification in their time here. Students who gain Gold accreditation are invited to attend an annual awards ceremony.

Additional information about the award can be found here.
