Year 10

Year 10 is the earliest students can join us. It’s the first of two years working to gain nine GCSE qualifications that can be used to progress into further education in our Sixth Form or support students with the next steps in their career.

Students study a set of core subjects and have the opportunity to select option subjects based on which academic set they are in. Their academic set will be determined by a series of baseline tests following the induction process.

Uniform

Our school uniform and dress code mirror the working environment and we expect our students to adopt a professional manner and appearance.

In Years 10 and 11 students wear a business-style uniform. All students wear appropriate protective clothing (dust coat, safety boots, and goggles) in practical lessons and workshops which students can either borrow or purchase.

  • Dark grey suit (jacket and trousers/skirt)
  • School tie
  • Sportswear polo shirt

A typical day

Teaching and learning is arranged over a 5 day week timetable which consists of 29 hours, as shown below. Our school week is longer to ensure our students are ready for the longer hours in the world of work.

  • Monday: 08:30 – 16:25
  • Tuesday: 08:30 – 16:25
  • Wednesday: 08:30 – 14:30
  • Thursday: 08:30 – 14:30
  • Friday: 08:30 – 14:30

Students receive one 15 minute break in the morning, a 30 minute lunch and an additional 10 minute break in the afternoon on Monday and Tuesday.
