The Duke of York Award for Technical Education accredits young people based on choosing a technical educational route and encouraging wider support from parents, partner business and stakeholders.
This qualification is unique to students at UTCs and recognises a combination of qualifications, work experience placements and the developments of a range of wider competencies. This qualification offers young people the opportunity to take their first steps into becoming registered technicians.
To gain this accreditation you must:
- Gain good grades in technical subjects
- Undertake work experience
- Complete project based learning
All students at UTC aim to gain this qualification in their time here, students that gain Gold accreditation are invited to attend an annual awards ceremony at St James’s Palace that is hosted by HRH the Duke of York.
