It is our aim at UTC to make the exam process as stress free and successful as possible for all candidates.

Students at UTC are given mock exams in order to best prepare them for the exam period that they will undertake to complete their courses. This is conducted in accordance with awarding bodies and their regulations at structured times of the academic year.

Exam awarding bodies dictate strict criteria, which must be adhered by both UTC staff and students. Please see here for additional guidance should you need it from the Joint Council for Qualifications.

If you have any questions about the exams process at UTC South Durham, how they are organised or need help or advice at any time before, during or after the examinations, please contact:

The Examinations Officer – Kevin Henry (via the school Main Office) or Jean Bell (Business Mananger)

We currently offer examinations through the following awarding bodies AQA, OCR, EDEXCEL ( BTEC) further information can also be found on their websites should you have any queries.

Here at UTC, we aim to help and support your child smoothly through their academic exams. To help our students reach their full potential, to ensure that they can prepare as fully as possible we provide revision timetables, and give access to revision guides. Additionally as part of the regulations placed upon us by JCQ we are required to provide students sitting examinations with ‘JCQ information for candidates’. This information is important so that candidates are fully aware of the expectations placed upon them during exam time. Complete sets of examination stationary will be available to purchase for a nominal fee. (Which can be paid through parent pay) Students with special requirements are fully assessed before the exams and all necessary arrangements will be made on an individual basis.
