Our aim is to make travel as easy as it can be in order to make the UTC accessible for you. Students travel from across County Durham, North Yorkshire, Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear. Students use a combination of public transport such as Northern Rail, Arriva, Scarlet, Stage Coach, Dales and District, dedicated UTC minibuses and external coach hire organised by the UTC.
UTC Minibuses and Hired Coaches
All students who travel on the UTC minibus or one of the hired in coaches automatically receives a subsidy of at least £620 per student. The UTC must make a charge for transport on the UTC coaches or hired buses, at the current rate of £680 per academic year.

This can be paid over 10 months at £68 per month or a discounted one off payment made in September of £630.

Arriva Buses
The UTC has negotiated discounted deals for those students travelling on Arriva buses, please see the flyer available in the downloads below. To access the Arriva offer, please follow this link. You will need to enter 123 as the identification number.
Sixth Form Financial Support
There is also a financial bursary available for Sixth Form students (those aged 16-19 who are studying in years 12 and 13). This bursary is available if your parents' household income is less than £20,000 per year. The Sixth Form bursary can be used to support travel costs. Please click here for more information.
