Apply

Who should apply?

We’re specialist by our technical offer and our courses aren’t the right fit for every career. We would encourage students who meet the following to apply.

  • Students who have a strong interest at least one of the following subject areas: Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths.
  • Students who are willing to engage with projects outside a classroom setting and interact with industry partners in a professional manor.
  • Students with a positive attitude to learning with a history of high attendance.
  • Students who like to think creatively and have a passion for problem solving.
  • Students who are committed to attending a longer school week (30 hours).
  • Students who enjoy a balanced mixture of classroom and workshop based learning.

The application process

Why should students apply?

Our purpose is to help young people become career and life ready but specifically to progress onto successful destinations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

Year 10

  • Your current school’s facilities do not prepare you for a future career within STEM
  • Your current school does not offer a technical subject or a range of STEM subjects
  • You would like to be in a community of students who have the same ambitions and interests as you.
  • You would like to work with our teaching team in a professional way which mirrors how you would be treated in the world of work.
  • You would benefit from learning in a smaller school with a more personalised approach.

Sixth Form

In addition to the points above, students should consider our Sixth Form if they:

  • Would like to study a specialist pathway such as our PEO or T Level course.

Who are places given to?

Each year we have 150 places for Year 10 and 100 places for Year 12. Applications are sorted in line with our admissions policy which ultimately sorts applications by distance to our building.

Due to our reputation for being a successful provider of technical education and a history of successful alumni we unfortunately are unable to offer a place to all students who apply. Meaning each year some applications will be placed on a waiting list.
