I have worked in education for the past 25 years. I began UTC in September 2017 and work as the Pastoral Lead for sixth form. Since I joined the team I have organised and introduced a number of enrichment activities including our volunteering schemes around the world, so far we have worked on a number of programs in South America, Africa & South Africa. The experience for our students is outstanding and often humbling, not only are their practical skills put to the test but their emotional resilience and wellbeing is challenged when living in some of the world’s most deprived areas.
Prior to UTC I worked in a local secondary school as a Year/House Manager and then within DCC’s Emotional Wellbeing and Effective Learning Team, supporting students in lots of secondary schools around Co. Durham. I have always believed that through encouragement and guidance emotional resilience can be developed to aid and support academic achievements.
