I’ve been working at the UTC since January 2020. I started working here as an English teacher and have since worked on Crew and PSHE in addition to my work in the English team. In September 2022 I took on the role of Head of English.
I’ve been an English teacher since 2009 and have taught KS3, GCSE, A level Literature and A Level Language during that time as well as GCSE Media Studies. I’m passionate about my subject and believe that both Language and Literature are vital in developing students who are able to communicate well, understand the world around them and think critically.
I attended Swansea University from 2004 – 2007 where I obtained my BA in English and Media Communication Studies. After that, I went on to complete my PGCE in Secondary English at Durham University from 2008-2009. I then completed an MA in Action Research in Education with Huddersfield University alongside my teaching role from 2009-2012.
Outside of teaching, I prioritise family time, I love theatre and (somewhat predictably) I enjoy reading. I’m also enthusiastic about health and fitness and enjoy cooking, running (I’ve completed the Great North Run a few times), cycling and HIIT.
