Engineering: Design

Welcome to GCSE Engineering Design!

Engineering Design is a process used to develop and enhance new products as a response to market opportunities and need. This course allows students to develop a design specification and to build the skills involved in researching, developing and creating a prototype of an engineered product. Students will be encouraged to consult with real industry and individual clients, to use practical equipment, computer aided design (CAD), and to develop product disassembly and modelling skills to evaluate and make prototype products.

  • Product analysis and research
  • Developing and presenting engineering designs
  • 3D design realisation

Exam Board: OCR Cambridge National

  • 3x centre assessed tasks
  • 1x 1 hour exam
